Description
Before Asociación Puertorriqueños en Marcha, Inc. (APM), basic social services were largely unavailable to Philadelphia’s Latino residents. In 1970, a group of Puerto Rican social activists sought to energize the community and help bring to it its fair share of resources. At its inception, the organization had a staff of five and was housed in a Germantown Avenue storefront. Our name translates to Association of Puerto Ricans on the Move, reflecting the spirit of advocacy and responsibility for our community that we hold to this day. APM incorporated as a 501(c)(3) on September 9, 1971.
